World News: Last day to save 'Tookie' Williams from execution Black Habits Articles Monday is the last day of appeals for Stanley (Tookie) Williams, one of California's most notorious ex-gang members. He is scheduled to be executed Tuesday.

Lawyers and advocates for Williams are waiting for two possible decisions: a ruling from the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to grant a stay of execution, or for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to grant clemency.

"If it's my time to be executed, what's all the ranting and raving going to do?" Williams said in a recent interview.

The 51-year-old has become a high-profile case due to the intervention of celebrities, who say he should live because of all the good works he's done since being sentenced to death in 1981.

Williams was convicted of gunning down four people at a convenience store and a motel in 1979. He has said he is innocent but several court reviews have refused to re-open his case.

At the time, Williams was a founding member of the Crips gang, known for its brutal street war with the rival Bloods gang. The Crips became a national drug-dealing operation.

During his time in prison, Williams has written a series of anti-gang books for kids, preaching a clean life.

The state Supreme Court refused to grant a stay of execution late Sunday and officials at Schwarzenegger's office said the governor was not ready to make a decision
