Local News: ACTRESS TONYA LEE WILLIAMS RECEIVES THE ACTRA AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
Actress Tonya Lee Williams is honoured the ACTRA Award of Excellence at the
Canadian Residence of Alain Dudoit, Consul General of Canada in Los
Angeles,
on Tuesday, November 15, 2005.
Tonya Lee Williams is best known for her role as Dr. Olivia Winters, on
the
number-one daytime drama The Young and the Restless.
She appeared on
such
shows as Hill Street Blues, Matlock, Gimme a Break and What's Happening
Now.
Throughout her career, she also played in such movies as Disney's The
Liberators, A Very Brady Christmas, Spaced Invaders and Hearts of Fire.
In
her latest project, she is directing and producing her first feature,
Making
Room for Lily.
As an active member of Actra Toronto's Diversity Committee, Ms.
Williams is
an activist in the film and television industry, with a purpose to
promote
Canada's rich diversity in the entertainment field.
