Local News: SECOND CHANCE SCHOLARSHIP AND AWARDS Black Habits Articles Tickets are now on sale for the SECOND CHANCE SCHOLARSHIP AND AWARDS PRESENTATION, taking place on Sunday, February 19, 2006 at the Grand Baccus Banquet and Conference Centre, 2155 McNicoll Avenue in Scarborough (North of Finch off Kennedy). Doors open at 12 Noon, the event starts at 1PM and includes dinner, presentations and performances.

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaƫlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will be the keynote speaker at the event presented by Operation Black Vote Canada (OBVC), The Teamwork Network Trust (TNT Eagles) and Community Unity Alliance. The three organizations have pooled their efforts to raise funds to provide scholarships to youth who have turned their lives around and are pursuing post secondary education. The event will also recognize the achievements of Black women, men and youth. The Toronto Star is Community Partner.

The SECOND CHANCE SCHOLARSHIP AND AWARDS PRESENTATION, hosted by MuchMusic's Matte Babel, will feature compelling performances. Gospel A cappella septet SOUL INFLUENCE will open the event with their stirring African beats from Zimbabwe, Kenya, Zambia and The Democratic Republic of Congo, from which the performers hail. Nine member ensemble, RHINO RHYTHM DRUMMERS, led by Mansa B.K. Musa, multi award winner LIBERTY SILVER and Dora nominee SANDRA CALDWELL, who recently appeared in "Annie Get Your Gun", will add their riveting performances to this Black History Month event.
