Local News: R.I.P. - CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF KEEGAN 'SPECKZ' ALLEN Black Habits Articles Hi Everyone, My heart, prayers and deepest sympathy goes out to my friend Carol Allen and her family for the lost of her beloved pride & joy..........her only son Keegan Allen. Keegan SPECKZ Allen, a loving and positive 18 year old was shot in the head early Sunday morning while attending an all-ages Dance Competition at the Hungarian House Cultural Centre on St. Clair Ave. West. He quickly slipped away late yesterday afternoon when he was removed from life support.

Carol is my Events Sista, as we're often being referred to being like CityTV and "being everywhere"! Many of you know Carol through her weekly Event Listing, Hosting and involvement at numerous community and entertainment events. She's a good spirited and extremely energetic and passionate force of life that is well-known and loved by all who meet her. For those of you who know Carol, you know that this is only the beginning. If there's anyone who can and will turn this tragedy around and create something positive and powerful from it, it's Carol Allen. Her main focus right now is to concentrate on the youth that have been left behind and provide with guidance, leadership, and goals for the future. She wants them to build self-esteem and respect for self and others but more important stress to them that she does not want them to seek revenge. The violence needs to stop! This and many tragedies like it were NOT SUPPOSE TO HAPPEN!! The competition was a non-alcoholic event attended by over 600 people consisting of youth along with parents and their extended family. It's time we get control and stop all of these senseless acts of violence within not just our community but ALL communities in the city. It doesn't really matter where you are anymore! We used to tell young people to avoid certain neighbourhoods or events, now it doesn't even matter. It's happening anywhere, to anyone, at any time of the day. Yesterday was a long, surreal day at the hospital watching and talking to groups of young people coming to pay their respects and trying to accept the reality of the situation. I had barely walk in my door late last night and took off my shoes to hear yet another story about a shooting up at Driftwood. When is this all going to STOP? Many of you are angry and frustrated due all these ridiculous and unnecessary violent acts and would like to help out in some way. Carol and a small group of people have a number of projects in the works including setting up a Foundation and an account to make donations. Please be patient and we'll pass on any info regarding ways that you can honour Carol's wishes such as the event listed below. Carol and her partners will be hosting their regular monthly Mix 'N Mingle event this Friday as a memorial to her son.
