World News: Pope Considered Quitting
ROME - Pope John Paul II considered resigning in 2000 when he turned 80 and the Roman Catholic Church entered the new millennium, according to his last testament.
The 15-page handwritten do*****ent, composed in Polish at different stages throughout the Pope's pontificate, was released Thursday. The church's College of Cardinals had read it a day earlier, as tradition dictates after a pope dies.
In his last will and testament, John Paul II, who died Saturday at age 84, thanked the "whole world" and all other religions for support throughout his life and papacy.
