Sports: Pinball gets extension
(The Canadian Press) ARGOS LOOK TO STRONG FUTURE
The Toronto Argonauts signed popular head coach Mike (Pinball) Clemons to a multi-year contract extension on Thursday.
The deal was officially announced during a news conference at Rogers Centre. Defensive co-ordinator Rich Stubler has also re-signed with the CFL club.
The Argos have also thrived under Clemons. The club has reached the East Division final the last four years, winning in 2004 en route to capturing its first Grey Cup title since 1997.
Clemons has been a finalist for the Annis Stukus Trophy as the CFL's top coach the last three seasons. He's a favourite again this year after leading Toronto (11-7-0) to top spot in the East Division for the first time since '97.
The return of Clemons and Stubler, one of the CFL's most respected defensive minds, further stabilizes Toronto's coaching staff. Last month offensive co-ordinator Kent Austin signed a two-year deal.
Offensive line coach Ken Miller is reportedly still negotiating a new deal with the Argos.
