Local News: Bobsledder waits for citizenship to compete
A key member of Canada’s
bobsled team is hoping
to receive his
Canadian citizenship
in time to compete
at the Olympics next
month in Turin,
Italy, CBC Sports
Online reports.
Lascelles Brown,
one of Canada’s top
bobsled brakemen,
who hopes to be paired with
2004 world champion pilot
Pierre Lueders, was born in
Jamaica and has applied to
become a Canadian.
However, he doesn’t know
whether he will receive
approval before
Jan. 26 — when
Bobsleigh Canada
will announce the
team it is taking to
the Games.
“I’m kind of just
taking it stride by
stride, because, you
know, if you think
too much about it, then it’ll
break you down, mentally,”
he said. “So I’m just taking it
stride by stride.”
