World News: Freeman shuns Black History Month
Actor Morgan Freeman
has dismissed Black History
Month, held annually to
mark the achievements of
black people, BBC News Online
reports.
Freeman said he hoped to
see an end to the annual series
of events, held in February.
“Black history is American
history,” Freeman said,
adding that the only way to
end racism was to “stop talking
about it,” and called for
an end to the use of the
words “black” and “white.”
“I don’t want a black history
month. You’re going to
relegate my history to a
month?”
